Volunteer Programs

Volunteers are a critical part of the way the Centre operates. Our Volunteer Programs increase the number of women we assist and ensure we are an embedded part of the Canberra community and the legal profession.

The Centre has two Volunteer Programs – our Volunteer Solicitor Program and Volunteer Legal Assistants Program.

The Centre is also also governed by a volunteer Board.

Volunteer Solicitor Program

Volunteer Solicitors provide legal advice to Centre clients in our evening Family Law Advice Clinics.

Clinics are held from 5-7pm on Tuesday and Thursday nights and assist vulnerable women who are not eligible for ongoing assistance from the Centre but have limited funds, to map out their next step in their family law matters.

Volunteer Legal Assistants Program

Volunteer Legal Assistants provide critical legal administration services to Centre solicitors and clients. This includes communicating with clients, file management, filing documents at courts, data entry and other administration, research, paralegal and client services support.

Volunteering with us is a great opportunity for students to gain experience in working in a professional legal environment whilst also supporting the delivery of legal services in a community-based setting.
